Durham Pro Bono Clinic is a collaboration between law students at Durham University and Citizens Advice County Durham. The clinic provides free employment law advice to local residents that can't afford to pay for legal advice and who are referred to the clinic by Citizens Advice Country Durham.

Summary of Service

NEAL offers free legal advice to EMPLOYERS on a range of employment law issues. Advice is provided by specialist employment law solicitors, who support the service on a voluntary basis. The service provides initial advice only and as such the clinic is not able to undertake casework or represent clients in Tribunal. Please note: No written advice is given to the clients during this clinic. At present this service is only available to Employers and we are unable to assist any employees involved in or considering issuing Employment Tribunal proceedings.

Opening Times

NEAL Advice Clinics take place throughout the year but you will be contacted by a trained Student Assistant before the Advice Clinic, who will take further information about your matter. The Student Assistant will not be in a position to answer any questions or give any advice on the initial fact finding call.

The University of Law offers a telephone Legal Advice Clinic for individuals dealing with Will, trust & estate disputes. We offer a free 30-minute appointment to speak to a Solicitor in relation to their query. We provide professional, independent, free legal advice to members of the public in the Tees Valley on a range of areas of law. We also run the Teesside University Law Clinic Court Support Service, this service assists those without representation at First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointments on Tuesdays at Middlesbrough Family Court. This service is based out of the court centre, where we offer procedural advice on the hearings, explain the court process and the next stages as well as providing emotional support. The service operates on a ‘drop-in’ basis predominately however, appointments can be made in advance via the Teesside University Law Clinic.
