At Hertfordshire Law Clinic, based at University of Hertfordshire, students, staff and external solicitor volunteers provide free legal advice and assistance to individuals who are not eligible for legal aid and cannot afford to pay for legal advice. Hertfordshire Law Clinic covers a wide variety of areas of law including private family law issues, employment, consumer/contract, wills and probate, housing, special educational needs and disability and intellectual property.

The SEND Law Clinic is for parents/carers who are residents in Derby City or Derbyshire who are seeking advice in SEND matters. The SEND Law Clinic aims to provide initial advice and offer signposting if the matter is beyond the expertise of the Clinic. Appointments are with two third year student volunteers with a background in Law and/or SEND. There is professional oversight by a solicitor and a SEND specialist. Summary of Service

The University of Bristol Law Clinic provides free legal advice to members of the public who cannot afford a solicitor. Once you make an enquiry, we will review your information and let you know whether we can help. This decision is made by the supervising solicitors. There is no right of appeal against a decision that the Law Clinic cannot help. If we are able to help, student advisors will then arrange a meeting with you to discuss your issue in more detail. Following the meeting, they will research and write a letter of advice. This letter will explain what work the Law Clinic can do for you. This could include letter-writing, helping you to file a court claim, starting mediation, or assisting with filling in tricky legal forms. In partnership with Watkins Solicitors, the University of Bristol Law Clinic offers free legal support to parents and pupils facing school exclusions and independent review panels. This service aims to help families feel more prepared, confident and supported. Our students can help with explaining the IRP process, preparing for the hearing.
